If there ever was something I needed, this is it! The size and style are perfect for my 2nd office needs. I really needed a filing cabinet with regular drawers and a file area to accommodate different items without overwhelming the limited space in the guest room which is also serves as the 2nd computer, storage and personal file area. As for assembly, well, when I first saw the clearly numbered pieces I was truly impressed and went through the assembly without much hassle until I reached the bottom drawer insertion This can be done by removing the top, the 2 upper drawers and then inserting the tracks onto the side rails where the ball bearings sit.

Note to the manufacturer Not a problem for me since I placed a platform on top of the cabinet for my Canon printer which is no lightweight by itself. The filing drawer is designed for letter size, not legal folders and faces left or right which, for me, is perfect since my computer is next to the file cabinet and I can view and access any file with ease as well as the 2 upper drawers.

Would I recommend this, yes, but be prepared to deal with the possible issues of inserting the bottom drawer and securing the top. I was worried I was going to break some of them , as I had to really tighten them to make the handles flush against the drawers..

But it all worked out okay. The lock that it comes with is really more of a gimmick, as even though it does lock the top 2 drawers, they still pull out about an inch away from the cabinet, and anyone who wanted to break into the drawers could do so in matter of seconds with a big screwdriver, so dont expect any great deal of security once the drawers are locked top 2 only.

I have to say , for the price this is built solid enough for the average home consumer. Its nowhere near the quality of an industrial file cabinet, but you have to expect that , and for me, its not a problem, as it is more then solid enough for my needs.

All 3 drawers pull out quite nicely, and very smoothly, I was impressed with that. I used some commercial quality hanging file folders inside for all my documents, and they hang perfectly inside. Get yourself one of those cheap accessory trays for the small drawer up top, to hold your pens, and paper clips, and what not's, and you have a really nice filing cabinet , that should last for many years. The box would have had to be completely crushed in order for anything to be damaged at all.

Anyone who has put together even nice particle board pieces knows that there tend to be little chips in the coating here and there at the edges and sometimes the edges are rough. This piece however had none of that. All predrilled holes lined up perfectly and the instructions were very easy to follow.

Another huge plus to me at least - all of the alphabet stickers used for assembly purposes come off easily with ZERO residue left behind. Once together, the cabinet is very sturdy and heavy and the drawers work extremely wellsmoothly. They glide well but not too easily as to sling back and forth and they click into place nicely when closed. As for the bottoms of the drawers, they will hold weight just fine referencing previous reviews.

Overall, I am extremely impressed with this cabinet. From the design to the materials to the packaging and even the tiny stickers on each piece - it was very well thought through and I greatly appreciate that. I chose this since it fits my needs for size and number of drawers, and the finish coordinates with other pieces in the room.

The quality was good in that all hardware was included, no damaged pieces, etc. I can't speak about how long it will last, but the pieces seem sturdy for this type of furniture. It went together without any problems. Holes were drilled in the right places and parts came together nicely. The instructions are mostly pictures, and you need to study them carefully to avoid mis-assembly in a couple of spots; but the drawings are accurate and detailed. I would have given this 4.

If you have experience with assembling this type of furniture and know, for instance, not to overtighten screws so you don't strip the threads, things should go smoothly. If you've never done it before, I would try to find someone with experience to help.

I've assembled a LOT of furniture, from the first time do-it-yourself-assembly was introduced in the states, and this was the first piece I've EVER run into that was solid, well-thought-out, well-fitted and actually fun and easy to assemble.

Every step was straight forward and solid. My favorite step was the screwed-on piece on the 4th plane of the drawer that holds panel in place, rather than have you go through that awkward business of "balancing" the 4 drawer pieces and spending twenty minutes cussing through a house-of-card charade to get the bloomin' drawer together. I also like the aligned gutter for sliding panels in. They're rarely aligned correctly or deep enough with other furniture companies.

I was thrilled that I could just put hanging files inside and did not need to put in my own rack for hanging. However, if you add a lable to the hanging file or put an actual file folder inside it sticks up far enough you have to be very careful when closing. They had the room.

For what I'm doing I think I can make it work but if this was to be a serious file cabinet, it could be an issue. Look closely at height of drawer measurements. Too bad this is just a little off.
