She knew her first-floor neighbor Jody Myers well—and understood exactly what him she was referring to. Mysterious in 3B, Cyb. We need some details here. Nothing much interesting about a bunch of blue lines. She liked it better when Cybil started sketching in the sections. And nobody ever sees him leave the building during the day.

Not even Mrs. Cybil is a cartoonist and makes her living creating strips for her comic strip. Seriously, this sounds like such a fun career, and Cybil totally loves it. Well, all the neighbors, except new neighbor Preston. Cybil is such a friendly young woman.

Cybil is always willing to lend a hand to any of her neighbors, and really loves having a strong relationship with all of them. So when she gets a new neighbor, she naturally welcomes him to the building with a plate of cookies and a knock on his door. He would have been perfectly happy camping out in his temporary apartment and not meeting any of his neighbors. But then, they do get friendly! The characters of The Perfect Neighbor really came alive.

I must mention my absolutely adoration of Daniel MacGregor who wants all his family to be happily married and having babies. I adore him, and whenever he makes an appearance he always makes me smile. This review was originally posted on Quinn's Book Nook Apr 18, Heidi rated it liked it Shelves: nora. Cybil is quirky, talkative, and outgoing, a direct contrast to her new neighbor across the hall -- a moody playwright named Preston McQuinn.

If you loved One Man's Art, you should pick this book up you'll see some similiarities! This is the last chance to see what all of the MacGregors are up to, including fiesty Daniel. Nov 26, Laydee rated it liked it. The main character was just too much. Very self centered and always the victim. I didn't like that. I hated that Preston always ended up groveling when he wasn't the bad guy. Cybill over stayed, created situations, then didn't like the outcome. I love the McGregor Series This one, probably the least.

Dec 30, Tanya Parsons rated it it was amazing. Re-read again for a bit of comfort reading! Good old- fashioned romance with happy endings all round. This was a wonderful way to end the MacGregor series, though I do wish Nora Roberts didn't leave the publisher and had been able to get the last 3 children's stories out. On a side note, just how rich are the MacGregors? They own an entire apartment building in NYC? And the story follows the same basi This was a wonderful way to end the MacGregor series, though I do wish Nora Roberts didn't leave the publisher and had been able to get the last 3 children's stories out.

And the story follows the same basic pattern as the previous novels in the series. What I liked about this one was that the whole flirtation and romance stage wasn't forced onto one of the two people, as seen previously. It annoys me to no end when a character exchange is all: "You love me. I'm forcing my love onto you anyway. I also enjoyed the appearance of minor secondary characters that are completely unrelated to a MacGregor.

They added substance to the storyline without taking any focus away from the main couple. I still think we ought to have a proper ending as it's probably very unlikely the invincible Daniel MacGregor let any of his "grandchildren" off the hook from getting married.

But alas, this was definitely an enjoyable exit otherwise. Aug 22, Ruth Garcia rated it it was amazing Shelves: nora-roberts , read , romance. The last of the MacGregor romance tied up this series like a tight little bow for me. Cybil is a cartoonist, much like her father Grant. She takes pride in her work, is friendly and outgoing, talks too much, and has a huge heart. Wanting to extend a neighborly welcome, she knocks on the door to 3B and meets broody, rude, and abrupt Preston McQuinn.

He's mysterious and cagey. While she thinks he's a struggling musician, her assumptions land them in a sticky mess. Reeling from his past and his nee The last of the MacGregor romance tied up this series like a tight little bow for me.

Reeling from his past and his need for solitude, he's annoyed that the neighbor in 3A won't shut up. She's a chatterbox who follows him around, tries to manage his life, and makes sure he eats. Trust doesn't come easy and the silliness only gets nastier. I loved this story and I loved getting a glimpse of Grant and Genevieve. As always, Daniel MacGregor gets his wish and pairs off another family member.

What's not to love? I'll miss this family and will definitely be visiting the MacGregor's again when the mood strikes. Jul 12, Natasha Hagen rated it liked it. Cybil was living in her own little happy world in the middle of New York city surrounded by her friends, till she got a new neighbor across the hall from her.

Preston was a loner and did not care much for company. Preston liked to be by himself and didn't quite know what to do with somebody like Cybil. She burst into his life trying to help him.

Little did she know that he didn't really want her help. Great love story for those who believe in a happily ever after. Oct 15, Naomi Ashwood rated it it was ok. I enjoyed this book at the beginning. Cute girl, living a fun social life. In comes grumpy introvert guy. Girl gives all to guy, guy continues to be a bit of a nonchalant jerk, taking for granted all the things the girl does.

This book reminded me of a mixed bag of s and s. I quit reading after they visited the grandparents at I enjoyed this book at the beginning. I quit reading after they visited the grandparents at the castle with turrets. The book felt all over the place. Nothing great. Jan 17, Camryn Mae rated it really liked it Shelves: nora-roberts.

As a complete novice to the genre my opinions on these books are not always positive. They don't seem to age very well, not having anything to do with writing Roberts writing is fantastic, but with what occurs after the couple inevitably together. Minding that I absolutely loved this book. In comparison to the others that I've read the main character is likable and a wonderful contrast to her male counterpart. So far out of the 10 or so books of hers that I've read this is by far my favorite.

Aug 19, Jane rated it it was amazing. Roberts nails the characters in this book! This book is so well written, but, of course, that's no surprise, considering who the author is. What did surprise me is that Roberts was such a good writer even "way back then.

It happens to all long-time writers, I suspect. This book is number ten in The MacGregors series and is a Silhouette publication from I borrowed it from my library after reading a blurb of the book o Roberts nails the characters in this book! Whenever we visited we'd always find something new. Something marvelous. With Preston. You should see it in the winter. We always come up during Christmas. The snow and the wind turn it into something frozen out of time.

And last year, just at the end of summer when the roses were tumbling and the sky was so hard and blue you waited for it to crack like an egg, my cousin Duncan got married here. But in the rain" She smiled dreamily, leaning on the wheel. Have you? It's your roots. You'll be surprised how much they tug at you when you breathe the air in the highlands or look out at a lowland loch.
